Nice Fall Honeymoon [French Riviera]

After there wedding they flew from cold Montreal Canada, to enjoy the fall weather of the French Riviera. While some countries already have snow, they were able to enjoy a sunny honeymoon on the French Riviera. As they were staying in Nice, and love the colors and mood of the old town, they wanted to have pictures around there.

We started on place Massena, walk to the old town to play with the orange and red colors. We did make sure to have pictures on the stones beach, by the mediterranean sea. The light was just magic, sunbeams shining in the air. That was such a magical setting to showcase their love, to get a relaxed photo session and create candid pictures.

During fall you have fewer tourists and can enjoy the little streets of Nice’s old town, the main places, and the Promenade des Anglais. Moreover when you have such beautiful sunsets!

Why the French Riviera for our honeymoon?

Why did we decide to go to the French Rivera for our honeymoon? We’ve visited Nice a few years prior and loved it. I loved the people, the food and the overall ambiance. When Jack and I were discussing where to go for the honeymoon, we listed many places that we have not been to before ….however, our trip to the South of France was so memorable that we decided to go there again as we knew we would love it.

Honeymoon on the French Riviera: Best places

We rented a nice and spacious apartment in Old Town Nice to be within walking distance to restaurants and all other attractions. We wanted to live like the locals so hotel accommodations were out of the question.

Rosa Jackson, who runs Les Petit Farcis (petitsfarcis.com), gave us her recommendations on where to eat in Nice and we were not disappointed.  Olivera was our favorite (oliviera.com).

We did a private tour of the Liberation Market led by Rosa’s business partner, Viktorija, an accredited sommelier and writer of books on the food and wine of France and Italy. (We’ve done the Cours de Saleya tour and cooking class on our previous trip so did not want to repeat). We spent several hours with Viktorija chatting about food, wine, and architecture of the market neighborhood and tasting fresh local foods. It was a very enjoyable way to spend the day.

As we rented a small car for the entire time we were on vacation, traveling around was easy. We visited a few of our favorite spots, including Villefranche-sur-Mer,  Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, the Medieval village of Eze – what an amazing experience!

We also managed to spend a day on the beach in Antibes – it was 25 degrees on Sept 30! The weather was superb on that day and during our entire vacation. Warm, sunny and no wind.

We did a day trip to Cannes and another one to Saint Tropez. We were lucky to see Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez where over 300 beautiful yachts gathered for the annual sailing regatta. It was simply amazing!

We spent an afternoon in Monte Carlo at Café de Paris admiring exotic cars that you otherwise don’t get to see every day (at least not in Canada). While in Monte Carlo, we also attended the Monaco Yacht Show, the pinnacle of luxury lifestyle and did some window shopping.

A vacation in the South of France wouldn’t be complete without a quick trip to Italy for some gelato and shoe shopping in San Remo. Driving in the tunnels through the mountains is so exciting.

Ooops….I forgot to mention rose wines and cheeses! An absolute delight.

When to fly to French Riviera for honeymoon

Fall is the perfect time to visit Nice (and the French Riviera). The weather is still beautiful in late September/early October but it is not too hot. There were fewer tourists around which made it easier to get restaurant reservations, find a bench to sit down on to people-watch, or to find a parking spot.  Fall is the peak season for certain fruits and vegetables and we wanted to be there when there is an abundance of fresh produce.

Finally, we had a fabulous and fun photoshoot with you. The pictures are wonderful and let us relive the experience. Thank you for capturing our happiness!

It was a great trip and we can’t wait to go there again.
