There is a unique magic that happens when a mother and her two daughters travel together. No matter how old we get, the bond between a mother and her girls—and the lifelong friendship between sisters—remains one of life’s most precious constants.
Recently, I had the pleasure of documenting a vibrant trio who flew to the South of France with one goal: to slow down, enjoy the Mediterranean lifestyle, and create lasting family memories they could treasure forever.
Beyond the Lens: A Curated Experience for Three
When they reached out for a French Riviera Family Session, they weren’t just looking for a photographer—they wanted a way to remember their time together in a way that felt authentic to the region’s beauty. They dreamed of coastal views, vibrant colors, and the “less-known” side of the Riviera. Because I believe a session should be an experience rather than just a series of poses, we designed a custom route for them that showcased the diversity of the coastline, moving from the dramatic heights of the cliffs to the water’s edge.

We began our journey at the top of the hills overlooking Eze and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. This local park is a favourite of mine because it offers a bird’s-eye view of the Mediterranean without the crowds. As the sun began to dip, casting a golden glow over the cliffs, we focused on the mother-daughter moments and memories that happen in the “in-between.” There was little stiff posing—just sisters laughing together, a mother’s proud glance at her grown daughters, and the quiet joy of being together in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
The Authentic Charm of Villefranche-sur-Mer
For the second half of our session, we drove down the winding coastal roads to Villefranche-sur-Mer (a great practice and first for the youngest daughter who had her driving license for a short time). While many tourists flock to the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, locals and savvy travelers know that Villefranche-sur-Mer offers a much more intimate and authentic experience. With its narrow, sun-drenched alleys and buildings painted in shades of terracotta and apricot, it is the perfect backdrop for a “style-forward” family shoot.
We strolled along the harbor where the water lapped against the stone, capturing the trio against the backdrop of the colorful seaside buildings. It’s the kind of place where you can spend the afternoon exploring and end the day with a glass of Rosé at a waterfront table—which is exactly what this celebration of powerful, loving women deserved.
